About Mr. Antonio
Hello! My name is Mr. Antonio Mejia, and I am the Grade 2 teacher at QISS in Qingdao, Shandong, China. I am from the small town of Tecumseh, Michigan, USA, about an hour outside of Detroit, and I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Both of my parents are teachers, and my younger brother is currently teaching Grade 4 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. When I was young my family would travel around the United States every summer, and as I grew older I began to travel internationally.
This is my first year teaching in China, and my third year teaching in Asia. I taught English in Seoul, South Korea, for two years, from 2010 to 2012, and I loved my time there. It was in Seoul that I met my fiancee, Ms. Kelly Pinyan. She is also a teacher at QISS, teaching middle school history and language arts. We are both thrilled to be teaching at QISS and living in Qingdao. I also coached the QISS middle school boys soccer team in the fall, and the high school girls team this spring along with Ms. Kelly Pinyan. Go Sharks!
